Cubs fans aren't exactly welcoming Edmonds with open arms
A search of the Cubs blogs proves that northsiders are just about as happy to have Jim Edmonds as the Cardinals fans are that he became a turncoat. I found many negative reviews of the Edmonds deal out of Chicago, excepts of which I have posted below. But only one positive remark. One Cubs blog opined that even if Edmonds is completely washed up, it was worth it to sign him because of how bad it hurt Cardinals fans.
Bleed Cubbie Blue: "I'm against this signing because it makes little sense from virtually every standpoint (baseball: he seems to have little left; clubhouse chemistry: he's acquired a reputation as an aloof loner; and fan support: virtually every Cubs fan hates him). All I can say is that if he indeed is as done as I think he is, that Jim Hendry won't waste any time releasing him and bringing Pie back."
The View From the Bleachers: OH… NO! I feel like crying right now. Jim Edmonds is directly behind Tony LaRussa as my most hated baseballer of all time. I can’t even look at his face without getting angry. Seriously. When he comes up to bat I put my hand over his face while I watch or else my eyeballs would melt like the guy at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Usually I also do the “I crush your head” thing with my thumb and finger. The Cubs CAN’T sign him!!! I CAN’T live in a world where I have to wish Jim Edmonds well. It will cause some sort of a vortex and the universe will explode. AAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!
Hendry, will Edmonds do anything that Felix Pie can’t do? Who cares if Pie is struggling at the plate, atelast he isn’t trying to play centerfield with bum legs like Edmonds is doing.
I don’t like the move one bit, and a lot of other Cubs fans that I have talked to think the same way. What do you think? Would a Cubs jersey burn right off of Edmonds when he put it on?
Cub Town:
These two things happened last night:
The Cubs beat Jake Peavy.
The Cubs signed Jim Edmonds.
One was good.
The other was not.
Now that I know the Cubs fans are ticked off, I don't mind so much that Jimmy signed with them. Maybe signing that contract was his way of putting the screws to the hated Cubbies one last time.

I am very happy that Jimmy is at least playing. My heart dropped when I heard he had been released. I want him to have a great year, as I really feel this may be his last.
I can't bring myself to be mad at him for this, he just wants to play. Jimmy loves the game.
I still didn't like seeing him in that uniform, ick. I want him back in red!
